BioGro certification means an operator has been independently audited and verified to meet the New Zealand organic standard. BioGro is New Zealand's largest organic certifier, established in 1983. BioGro certified products carry the BioGro logo, which is one of the most recognised organic marks in New Zealand. Certification requires annual audits, documented organic management systems, and full traceability.
Is BioGro certification recognised internationally?▼
Yes. BioGro has equivalence arrangements with several international standards including USDA NOP, EU Organic, and JAS (Japan). This means BioGro certified products can be exported to these markets as organic. However, specific export certifications may be required — ANZOC shows which BioGro operators hold these additional export market certifications.
What is the difference between BioGro and AsureQuality organic?▼
Both BioGro and AsureQuality certify operators to the same New Zealand organic standard. BioGro is the larger certifier with over 800 operators and stronger brand recognition in the consumer market. AsureQuality (a government-owned company) tends to certify more large-scale commercial operators. Both certifications are equally valid under the Organic Products Act.
